Terms of Sale and Privacy

These terms apply to purchases of The Name on the Instrument: A Field Guide for the Surgeon Inventor made on thesurgeoninventor.com or in person at events. The site is operated by ACE Medical Company, 555 Blanding Blvd, Suite B, Orange Park, FL 32073 (we, us, or ACE). By placing an order, you agree to these terms.

Orders and pricing

All prices are in US dollars. The list price of the paperback is $29.95. You will receive an email confirming your order; this confirms that we received it, and your order is accepted when it ships. If a price or product is listed in error, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full.

For orders of ten or more copies, such as for a residency program, department or society, please write to us before ordering and we will arrange shipping that fits the order.

Payment

Card payments are processed securely by Authorize.Net. We never see or store your full card number. Your card is charged when you place your order.

Sales tax

We collect Florida sales tax on orders delivered to a Florida address and on sales made in person. Orders shipped to other states are not charged Florida sales tax. If your state requires you to pay use tax on purchases, that remains your responsibility.

Shipping

We ship from Orange Park, Florida, to addresses in the United States only, by USPS Media Mail, for a flat charge of $5.95 per order. Media Mail usually arrives within 2 to 8 business days after shipping, though USPS does not guarantee delivery times.

Responsibility for your order passes to you once we hand it to the US Postal Service. We are not able to replace or refund books that are lost or damaged in transit, but we are glad to help you track your package.

Returns and refunds

If you are not satisfied, you may return a book in new, unread condition within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price. Please email us first for return instructions. Return shipping is paid by the buyer unless the return is due to our error.

A book with a printing defect, such as missing or misprinted pages, will be replaced at no cost to you. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days after we receive the return. Shipping charges are not refunded unless the return is due to our error.

Books purchased in person at an event follow the same return policy.

Ebook and audiobook editions

Ebook and audiobook editions, when available, are sold by third party retailers such as Amazon. Those purchases are governed by the terms and refund policies of the retailer.

Educational purpose

The book and this website share the author's experience and opinions for general educational purposes. They are not legal, patent, regulatory, financial, tax or medical advice. Before acting on any idea in the book, consult qualified professionals such as a patent attorney or a regulatory consultant. References to companies and products are for illustration only, and all trademarks belong to their owners.

The book and the content of this website, including text, photographs and artwork, are protected by copyright. No part may be reproduced without written permission, except for brief quotations in reviews and articles.

Instrument ideas you send us

Sending an idea through the Share an Idea form or by email is voluntary. It does not create a confidential relationship, a partnership or any obligation on either side to develop, license or pay for an idea. We may already be working on similar ideas on our own. Please do not send confidential or unprotected design details until we have both signed a confidentiality agreement, which we are glad to do before any detailed discussion.

Privacy

We collect the information you give us when you place an order or contact us: your name, email, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, order details, and anything you write in our forms. We use it to fill your order, send your receipt and shipping updates, and answer or follow up on your requests.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the site and fill orders, such as our payment processor, the US Postal Service, and the providers that host our business systems and email, and only as needed for those purposes.

The site uses cookies that are needed for the cart and checkout to work, and it may use basic analytics to understand how visitors use the site. To ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted where the law allows, write to us at the address below.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Clay County, Florida.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. The terms in effect when you place an order apply to that order.
